Welcome to BZBI

We are a fully egalitarian, inclusive Conservative congregation. Our membership spans the world, but we are at heart a neighborhood shul.

BZBI welcomes the entire spectrum of Center City’s Jewish community: people of all ages, races, ethnicities, and abilities; interfaith families; people who are single and partnered. People of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We are committed to disability justice and universal accessibility. We will do our best to provide accommodation.

Our BZBI community exists only through the financial support and generosity of our members. We have created a dues structure, but we will work with your unique situation to make Synagogue membership affordable and meaningful to your circumstance.

Your commitment to BZBI ensures we can carry on our cherished traditions; maintain our dedication to social action and social justice; present thought-provoking speakers; offer opportunities to expand Jewish learning; support our inspiring, compassionate, and accessible clergy; and nurture your community.

Because the true cost of running a vibrant synagogue far exceeds the amount generated through the traditional congregational commitment, please consider making a congregational commitment at the Sustaining Partner level, or if you are not able, consider increasing your commitment by at least 10% from last year. Alternative Commitment

Our membership categories should never prevent anyone from becoming a member of our synagogue. We encourage you to give in the amount with which you are comfortable. If you want to speak with someone about this please contact our Executive Director.

All Members have a Maintenance & Security Fee added to their Commitment at $220 per adult per household. This fee allows us to keep our building safe for all.
